Safeguarding and welfare at the heart of everything we do

24^th Macclesfield Methodist Group puts the safeguarding and welfare of all our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and young leaders at the heart of everything we do. This allows us to have a safe, trusted environment and culture for all our meetings and activities. As a result, our young people are safe, as well as having fun and learning new skills for life.

Our volunteers follow The Scout Association policies and practices at all times. All leaders carry the Safeguarding Code of Conduct for Adults (Yellow Card) and our Young Leaders carry the Orange Card.

We are required to record incidents and near misses to share learnings across Scouting. Any incident that results in a member requiring intervention directly or subsequently from the emergency services or a medical practitioner is required to be reported to our national HQ team for further follow up. Please notify the Group Lead Volunteer as soon as possible if this occurs.

Training

Our leaders and Trustees have undertaken a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and hold the relevant certificate. They also take part in regular safety and safeguarding training. Our volunteers have a duty to report all safeguarding concerns they become aware of, directly or indirectly, as soon as possible (maximum within 24 hours) to the UK HQ Safeguarding Team.

What if I have concerns?

If you have any safeguarding or welfare concerns about a young person, or the behaviour of any of our volunteers, please tell us as soon as you can. You can speak to any of the Section Leaders, the Group Lead Volunteer or one of our Trustees – whoever you feel most comfortable with. Alternatively you can simply use this reporting form to share your concerns directly with the National Team.
